We have been living in Portlaoise only about a year but Lily's is already our favourite if we want to have a family meal out. The food is consistently excellent,... read more prices are fair, portion sizes are decent and the staff, especially the manager / owner, are so friendly. They are also family friendly (high chair available) which is nice. The deco is so retro and cool and I love the glass ceiling in the dining area, it brings a lot of light into the pub. Would definitely recommend.
Visited recently as we are shortly moving to portlaoise and like to have somewhere to go weekly.
After visiting quite a few places, I am so happy we found... read more Lilly's.
As soon as we walked in we were met by a very nice waitress.
It is a very big area with a lot of different sized tables to suit all group sizes.
Cannot fault the food. The prawns pil pil are the best I have had in ireland and the chicken burger was so tasty and filling.
The cocktails were perfect and refreshing. I was able to get a Cosmo although it was not on the menu and it is one of the best I ever had.
Cannot wait to return in the near future.
My friends and my brother went out to portlaoise for a change of scenery. When we first walked in we thought the atmosphere was okay and great older music. Then... read more a bouncer forced me and my friends upstairs to a different nightclub with horrible music and full of 19 year olds. We tried to go back downstairs as my brother was still there and the bouncers refused, even though we never wanted to go up in the first place. A bouncer said to me "don't worry we'll find you're brother". How? I didn't know any of them. I was separated from him for nearly 2 hours trying to find a way back down all because of the Horrible security staff. Many others had similar problems.
